Stourhead Garden & Estate in England

In mid-June we visited the Stourhead garden and estate outside of London.  We had limited time in England so this was the only major garden we were able to visit on our trip. Plus, it just happened to be along the route we were already taking to get to Stonehenge. Read more

My ‘Master Gardener’ Mentor’s Garden

On Saturday I had the pleasure of touring the beautiful garden of my friend & mentor.  She supported me through the Master Gardener training and continues to support me today. Not only is she an amazing person, but she has a beautiful woodland garden that was featured on this year’s tour.

There was a lot to enjoy in her garden, but I especially loved all the rebar supports she made for her plants. She actually bends each piece by hand using the setup below. Anyone know what it’s called? I want one and she doesn’t remember where she got it. Every gardener should have one.

Boot Planters!!

It appears we have more in common than I thought. As I walked around her garden I noticed three boot planters! I had no idea she had such good taste:

Woodland Garden Walk

I had a hard time capturing the garden’s beauty with my iPhone (I forgot to put the battery back in my camera). Just picture a woodland walk full of shade loving shrubs and perennials mixed with native plants. Keep an eye out for all the artwork and rebar supports:

There’s Something for Everyone at Jennings

Today was my first day volunteering at Jennings – one of the Snohomish County Master Gardener demonstration gardens.  As an Intern Master Gardener I will complete 16 hours of volunteer time in this garden. If it was closer to my house I’d be there all the time – it’s that amazing.

Not only are the garden “rooms” unique and charming, but they includes space saving techniques like vertical gardening, straw bale gardening and stacked raised beds.  It was hard to catch the charm in photos, but I still wanted to share a slideshow of the different gardens, trellises, arbors, pathways and plants.

The Jennings demo garden is located at 6915 Armar Road in Marysville and is open to the public.  Master Gardener volunteers will be on site to answer questions every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from 9-1 (May – September). It’s well worth the trip.
