Heaven = Wine Country & Gardens

This past weekend we visited the San Francisco area for the San Francisco Flower & Garden Show and to visit Sonoma. The first series of pictures were taken at the show.  If you missed it this year then you should really check it out next year. It’s full of garden ideas, inspiration, shopping, seminars and shopping. Oh wait, I already said shopping…

Lately, I’ve been feeling like I need to add more art & sculptures to my garden. I’m missing the small details. That’s why most of my pictures are of items that inspired me and should help me pick affordable art to add to my garden.  The second set of pictures were taken at Cornerstone right outside of Sonoma. It’s a beautiful shopping area full of art and display gardens. It’s a must see when visiting Sonoma.

The last set of pictures are of wine tasting at Ravenswood and Chateau St. Jean wineries. We also walked up & down Lombard Street in San Francisco. Just because it was there.

While we were in town we also visited with a lot of great folks I met online through Twitter.

A New Gate for the K Homestead – Wordless Wednesday

Repurposing at it's finest! My BFF's new K gate & future veggie garden. LOVE IT!

Heading to the San Francisco Flower & Garden Show!!

I’ve got great news for the folks in N. California — later this week I’m packing up and heading down for the San Francisco Flower & Garden Show!  I already attended Seattle’s NW Flower & Garden Show in February but didn’t have enough time to see all the great vendors, display gardens and seminars.  I figured the only logical thing to do was get tickets to the next closest show — in San Francisco!

The San Francisco Flower & Garden Show runs from Tuesday, March 24 to Sunday, March 28. For more information on the show, visit the official site at http://sfgardenshow.com/.

Unfortunately, I do have to work part of the week so I’ll only be in town Thursday – Sunday.  I’ll be at the show Thursday evening and Friday. I’d love to meet up with as many people as possible while I’m in town so don’t be shy if you see me walking around — I haven’t decided if I’m going to wear my rubber boots yet but will be wearing a nametag.

While at the show, I’ll be posting pictures and other tidbits from my twitter account @MyRubberBoots. I also get the privilege of calling myself a TABBy (Tweet And Blog Brigade) for the event.  You can track all TABBy posts by following the hashtag #SFGS on twitter or following the show’s official twitter account @SFGardnShow.  If you don’t “get” twitter, I’ll also be posting a lot of the same pictures here – as time permits.

On Saturday I’m taking a break from the show to visit Sonoma.  I’m a HUGE (red) Zinefandel fan and I hear that Sonoma is the place to visit if you like Zin and beautiful gardens.  If you have any suggestions on wineries I should visit, I’d love to hear about them.

I’ll hope to see you at the show!

Garden Show Pictures – My Favorite Display Gardens

Yesterday I attended the Northwest Flower & Garden Show and loved every minute of it. Today I’m going to share my pictures of the display gardens. Below are my show favorites; you can also click here to see all my show pictures.

I'm incorporating these evergreens into my garden for sure!

I love this rock/cement water feature.

I want this Golden Hinoki Cypress!

Loving the Corylus avellana 'Contorta'

Great green winter interest.

Great cold frame! Beautiful!

Cute veggie & tulip filled pots

My favorite! Maybe I can add one these to my next yard?

Aside from these pictures, you can click here to see all my show pictures on Flickr.

You Know It’s ‘Officially’ Spring in Seattle…

In case you didn’t know, the Northwest Flower and Garden Show is going on NOW at the Convention Center in Seattle.  I look forward to this event all winter (and all year for that matter).  And really can’t imagine a better way to kick off spring than looking at display gardens, shopping for garden stuff and buying new plants!

For those of you not living in the Seattle area (since that’s only excuse for not attending yourself), I’ll do my best to capture the display gardens in a post following the show. I’ll also share some of my favorite vendors, like Glass Gardens NW in booth #1104 (this is where I get my glass pond floats)!

For the folks attending or working at the show, I’ll be wondering around all day Saturday.  I should be pretty easy to spot in my new black Hunter boots.  If that’s not easy enough, here are the seminars I plant to attend:

Hood Room

Rainier Room

See you at the show!
