My NEW Bat House
I went to a bat talk last week, given by Bats Northwest member Barbara Ogaard, and now I REALLY want bats in my garden. I even got a bat house.
Some local bats I can attract are hoary bats, yuma myotis, keen’s myotis, big brown bat, silver-haired bat, little brown bat, california myotis and long-eared myotis. These guys will range from 2-4 inches long with a 9-16 inch wingspan. They’re teeny tiny. Read more
This month I’ve got a lot of the same plants blooming as last month – like helebores and snow drops. I’ve also got my daphne ‘Summer Ice’ that started blooming and my euphorbias are close to blooming. For fun, I threw in some photos of shrubs with colorful leaves like spirea and barberry – so pretty! Read more
Since I don’t have a ton of blooms and I’m still having fun with my Ollo iPhone lens (what can I say – I’m a nerd), I took two shots of each bloom. One normal shot followed by a closeup (and maybe a touch blurry). Enjoy. Read more
Well, I went outside this morning to take photos of my “blooms” and had a hard time of it since I had to brush away the snow to see anything. Anyway, here are my almost blooms for January.
