A Hummingbird Legend…

I’ve seen this quote before on the back of a PAPYRUS card and loved it. I just saw it again today and thought I’d share it with you. There’s just something so peaceful and lovely about it.

“Legends say that hummingbirds float free of time, carrying our hopes for love, joy and celebration. Hummingbirds open our eyes to the wonder of the world and inspire us to open our hearts to loved ones and friends. Like a hummingbird, we aspire to hover and to savor each moment as it passes, embrace all that life has to offer and to celebrate the joy of everyday. The hummingbird’s delicate grace reminds us that life is rich, beauty is everywhere, every personal connection has meaning and that laughter is life’s sweetest creation.”  – PAPYRUS

I know they specialize in beautiful/creative greeting cards so you’d expect something unique from them, but the person who created this text deserves a happiness award.

Anyway, I did a quick search online and found many, many hummingbird legends and myths. They are very beautiful, mysterious and quick little birds that have apparently fascinated us for centuries.

  2. I found it in a Papayrus Shop in Denver in 2011, and this quote is the most beautiful, inspiring and peace giving quote I ever read about the legends of hummingbirds.
It is great to find it in your blog to share it with a huge group.
    Thanks, Susanne

I agree, it’s nice. There are many hummingbird legends and myths, but this one seems to be completely made up. I found it on a Papyrus card that I bought for my wife, and after reading it and thinking about it for a minute, it just seemed fake. Free of time? So I did some basic research, and my conclusion is that this one was created by the card people. Once again, I agree that it’s really nice… I’m just here because I was trying to verify if it’s true.

Agree with Jim….this is a wholesale invention of the Papyrus card company. Nice thought, but they don’t get to invent legends.
