Awww! My heart skipped a beat when I read the title of your post, and I was very glad to see that there’s nothing but love going on there….or so it appears! Are they really just checking each other out and saying hello? A chicken and a cat – am I seeing this?
Aimee, sorry to scare you! Mickey (cat) likes to torture our chickens and other cat Stella. It appears Licorice (hen) has had enough since she charges after him if he gets close to her! I’m sure he deserves it.
You’re foolish to let your cat get that close; one scratch from a claw and your birds may be gonners. I have 3 cats and 12 chickens and do not ever allow my cats to stalk my chickens. That’s a permanent stay in the house if it ever happens. You should think twice before you’re sorry.
FREE-RANGE CHICKEN GARDENS. I have the pleasure of being included in Jessi Bloom's beautiful book (pages 27, 51 upper left, 112, 114-117). Check it out!
THE NEW LOW MAINTENANCE GARDEN. This book by Val Easton is one of my favorite design books.
WICKED PLANTS: Great read about poisonous plants by Amy Stewart.
THE VEGETABLE GARDENER'S BIBLE. My favorite vegetable garden reference book by Edward C. Smith.
GROW. COOK. EAT. by Willi Galloway is a beautiful vegetable garden cookbook. Great recipes and tips on eating ALL parts of the veggie - not just the mainstream parts.

Hahaha! Well good for Licorice for standing up for herself and letting Mickey know who’s boss. :)
