It Was a Success? Seed GROW Project.
I’m happy to report that my TWO Nasturtium Spitfire Seedlings are now two months old. That’s right, out of an entire packet of seeds, I was able to germinate TWO seedlings. I’m rather proud of these two seedlings since I’d be a ‘nasturtium seed starting failure’ without them. After we chatted last month, I planted the remainder of the seeds directly in the garden to see what magic Mother Nature could do. Nothing.
I’m sure most people would disagree with me, but I’m finding Nasturtiums to be the hardest/most frustrating plant to start from seed. EVER. Here are a couple random shots of my two little fighters.

I’ve sown nasties many a year and have had much better luck than this year–I don’t know why. So, it’s not you! I didn’t sow the whole packet, but I got only 4 to germinate and one I sort of killed on accident. Heh. Aren’t you still in France?!

I think there must be something outside of your control that is affecting the germination rate of your nasturtium seeds.

Sorry to hear about your frustration. I had pretty good success with all of the ones I planted, except for some seeds I saved.

I didn’t have a bit of trouble staring mine from seed. But I’m not very impressed with the growth habit of the one I’ve set out in a pot. I reckon I’m used to more vigorous viners, ones that don’t need much help from me.

Everyone has one or two plants that vex them… Thanks for your you advice on Dahlias, I have buds and an open flower! Which is most amazing because my husband hasn’t put any walls on the frame of the coop-chicken run and they are like cute little tractors, taking out all the plants in the yard! I waited a minute too long for the white tree dahlia and they were sold out! I am on the wish list. Thanks, Margaret

Last year was my FIRST YEAR EVER that I had EVER gotten nasturtiums to bloom. I feel your pain!
